East, in Leimert Park and along the Spanish Colonial streets nearby, it's clay tile from the twenties and thirties, where the leak is usually cracked pans or dried underlayment, not the tile itself. Different repair, different crew day.
Hillside jobs change the spec. Baldwin Hills, Blair Hills and the slopes by Kenneth Hahn sit in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone territory, so Chapter 7A ember-resistant assemblies and vents apply — a mile downhill in flat Inglewood they don't. We come up La Cienega, La Brea, Crenshaw, Slauson or Manchester depending on the hour. Usually 10 to 20 minutes.
Permits: LADBS, and the line that moves mid-drive
Does my re-roof need a City permit?
Yes, and in the City of LA it goes through LADBS rather than a small-city counter like Inglewood's. Straightforward re-roofs often qualify for an express permit path, which keeps the paperwork short.
I'm in View Park or Ladera Heights — same process?
No. Those are unincorporated LA County, not City of LA, so the permit authority flips even though you're minutes from Crenshaw. We pull through the County for those addresses.
